How many new years have you listed a bunch of resolutions just to give them up by the second week of January? Don’t feel bad about that. That happens pretty much with everyone, but you shouldn’t take it normally.
Why do we set a goal for ourselves and quickly lose motivation to give up? It’s a common problem, but it doesn’t have to be. Let’s explore why it’s important to set meaningful goals and own them instead of dreaming about them all the time. We’ll also touch on the importance of focus and surrendering to the present moment.
Don't set a goal for the sake of setting it:
Don’t set goals just because others are doing them. Talk to your inner self and find out what it truly wants to achieve no matter what. Try to find your “why” and then set goals accordingly.
It’s easy to get overwhelmed to set goals, especially around the start of a new year. To avoid that, it’s important to know not all goals demand an equal level of effort. Before setting a goal, ask yourself if it is truly something you want to achieve. Is it valuable to you? If not, you’ll probably fail to put in the hard work required to achieve it.
There is nothing that we can't do:
As long as your goals are not absolutely irrelevant, you should never feel down for not achieving them because the process is not like a one-time setup. You must invest your life and make it an ongoing process until you see the desired result.
We often limit ourselves by thinking that we can’t do something. But the truth is that we are capable of so much more than we think. Kill the self-doubt first, even before starting with your work. Believe in yourself and your abilities, and you’ll be amazed at what you can accomplish.
We imagine we have to do everything:
Look at any successful business in the world, and you will realize that not even a single one of them was built by a one-man army. Yes, to build an empire, you need an army. So, focus on building and training a team according to your requirements. It’s important to remember that it’s okay to ask for help. No one can do everything by themselves, and that’s not how those many unicorns were built. So, focus on creating supportive networks and leverage all the automation tools available, and make your dreams come true without stressing yourself all the time.
Focus on letting distractions disappear away:
What do we mean exactly by owning the goals? We work not for the sake of working on them
We work on them because they truly add value to our time. If you are consciously aware of the end result, no distraction can ever disturb you from achieving your goal.
In today’s fast-paced world, staying focused on anything for very long period of time is crucial for achieving your goals. Set aside dedicated time to work on your goals, and try to minimize distractions as much as possible. This will allow you to make the most progress in the shortest amount of time.
Don't be afraid to give your one hundred percent:
Whether it’s a smaller task or a bigger task, the way you allocate your energy shouldn’t change.
You have to put the same energy into a smaller task as you invest in a difficult task.
Achieving your goals will likely require a lot of hard work, but it’s important to embrace the challenge and give it your all. Don’t be afraid to put in the effort required to achieve your goals. Remember that the more you put in, the more you’ll get out.
Rest your faith in the higher intelligence:
This is such a wonderful universe created by some divine force. So, along with putting all your effort and put some faith in the higher intelligence so that you won’t feel alone.
While it’s important to take responsibility for our own actions, it’s also helpful to trust that there is a higher intelligence at work in the world. This can help to provide a sense of peace and perspective when things don’t go as planned. Trust that everything is happening for a reason, and try to let go of any expectations or attachments to the outcome.
It doesn't happen one single day:
As the popular saying goes, Rome was not built in a day. Similarly, the empire you want to build can’t be completed in a matter of days or months. Great things take time.
Achieving your goals will likely take time, so be patient with yourself. Don’t expect to see results overnight. Instead, focus on making consistent progress and be patient with yourself as you work towards your goals.
If you want to do something, give it your all:
Whenever you start anything, don’t do it in bits and pieces. You have to involve your soul in getting it done. If there is something that you truly want to do, don’t hold back. Go all in and give it your best effort. You’ll never know what you’re capable of until you try.
We can’t expect premium results when our effort is not up to mark. If you have a clear idea about why you are doing what you are doing, no one really needs to tell you all this.
Surrender to this present moment:
Your past is just your memory, and the future is your imagination. All you can experience and work upon is the present moment.
It’s easy to get caught up in thinking about the past or worrying about the future, but it’s important to stay in the present and focus on the here and now. Surrender to the present moment and trust that everything is happening for a reason. This will allow you to stay focused on your goals and make the most of each day.
I hope you got an idea about why it’s not just enough to dream, but you have to own your goals to see a real change. If you can surrender to what you believe is going to make a change in your life, the way you experience life and the pace at which you get results will never be the same.
