The Power of Consistent Action towards Big Goals
The path to colossal success is not always a matter of sweeping gestures or gigantic leaps. More often than not, it is the dogged commitment to steady action, day after day, that really sets the stage for our greatest, most glorious aspirations to come to fruition. This was one of the key takeaways imparted in a recent groundbreaking Zoom session, with a focus on the critical equilibrium between maintaining a strong vision and taking clear, tangible steps today.
Finding the Balance: Vision Supported by Regular Action
Dr. Mani Pavitra pointed out a familiar problem: either we’re hyper-focused and unrealistically perfectionistic, or we’re completely delusional and don’t do what’s really required. The sweet spot, she said, is a fine balance – where imagination is grounded with consistent execution. It’s about being in tune with your inner vision and the outward manifestation, just like balancing your Ida and Pingala, or your right and left brain.
The ONO Principle: A Masterclass in Sustained Action
As an example of the deep influence of sustained action, Dr. Mani Pavitra spoke about the inspiring example of a 94-year-old sushi master, Jiro Ono, of Japan. For 50 years, Jiro has been managing a 10-seater restaurant, offering only one course, never closing shop. From Michael Obama to world prime ministers, all have visited his place. When Michelin asked him to be rated, he refused, just because his intention has always been to do one thing over and over and over, again and again, and master it. His apprentices take 10 years to prepare rice alone, and an additional 5 years to cut fish only. Such intense dedication to uniform action teaches us that grand visions and objectives become a reality when you remain committed to mastering one thing.
Dr. Mani Pavitra’s Personal Experience with Persistent Action
Her expertise is mastering videos, says Dr. Mani Pavitra. She asserts, “Give me any person. I’ll make them look good on video. I’ll bring out their best on video. That is the art that I’m mastering.” Consistent action, she asserts, is what wishes should be supported by, and for her, creating video is the external action required. Inner manifestation, she asserts, requires visibility, and the more visible you are, the more “crazy abundance” will flow into your life. Video, in her view, is the “shortest cut to your abundance,” and consistently posting videos is like “sharpening a knife again and again and again.” This leads to greater clarity in words and target audience, ultimately resulting in more powerful abundance.
Student Transformations: The Fruits of Consistent Action
The discussion then shifted to the powerful sharing of students who had internalized the philosophy of regular practice:
Nandini’s Effortless Programs: Nandini discussed how her original intention of boosting attendance in her yoga classes, determined after the content creation bootcamp, is now occurring “effortlessly.” One program she desired manifested just as she was standing up, with a co-teacher sending her an email about a school class. Dr. Mani Pavitra clarified that her previous work is shifting from unconscious competence to conscious competence, and new skills, such as video making, need persistent action to shift from unconscious incompetence. Nandini promptly revised her target to place video making at the top, reaffirming the determination of being visible.
Dr. Vishwanath’s Surgical Achievements: Dr. Vishwanath reported two significant feats. He conducted his first cosmetic Botox procedure, which was surprisingly quick and very effective. More importantly, a rare surgery he did a few weeks ago, to make a canal for a girl who has issues with menstruation, succeeded, and she had her first menstrual period the previous day. These “wonderfully exciting” results were hailed as direct fruits of his hard work.
Kalyani T’s Empowerment and New Opportunities: Kalyani felt tremendous thankfulness for the support that made it easy for her friend to come to terms with a tough breakup and get over it, giving credit to Dr. Mani Pavitra for empowering her to “take decisions, help her, push her, understand the reality, make a conscious decision.” Kalyani also talked about her personal victory of getting a new job, taking her tally to three jobs. Her task list in her first job is also increasing, signifying a journey to the second level, a vote of confidence in her unflinching steady action in joining every session for a year.
Meena Y’s Mind Mapping Development: Meena brought some thrilling news in her content development endeavor. Her cousin, who works on financial literacy in Telangana and Bangalore, asked her to focus on content, particularly mind mapping and story writing. Besides, an aunt, based on her WhatsApp status, contacted after months of communication, and Meena was asked to do mind mapping for 8th to 10th grade in a school 70 km away. She also observed a “lead conversion per day” occurring, with ex-students coming back for mind mapping sessions. Meena is also hosting introductory sessions on Bhagavad Gita, incorporating mind mapping. Even with handling multiple obligations, such as a content and curriculum developer position at a school, she experiences an attitude of “abundance.” Dr. Mani Pavitra challenged her to “break the hard code” of ads to further spread her influence in schools.
Mrugesh’s Entry into Hotel Industry: Mrugesh shared his accomplishment of staying above 15,000 steps for over 90 consecutive days with pride, pointing to his individual dedication to persistent action. Professionally, he arranged trial shoots with three hotels in Rajasthan, his “first step initial step towards the hotels industry.” He also intends to use a successful shoot for a “Truly Indian” managed property to lock up business for their other hotels in India, showing a strategic way of scaling his efforts through repeated action.
Sarvpreet’s Active Listening and Leadership Development: Sarvpreet credited the positive shift of attending the call daily. He explained that by not judging others, he has noticed the “actual nature of people,” resulting in “a lot of hostility.” Difficult as it has been, this has heightened his active listening ability to be able to read intentions from tone. Dr. Mani Pavitra explained that his issues as a Rotary President are not “toxicity” to be shunned, but “learning lessons” to the development of leadership. She highlighted the need for smart adaptation, reminding him that he volunteered for this role and is answerable to the members. She instructed him to distinguish between real toxicity (negative yapping from unconnected people) and the inherent challenges of leadership, where one needs to concentrate on the good in people and suit the behavior to the context.
Archana’s Second Resort Project: Archana happily declared completing another resort project, after two months of quotations and estimates work. This is her second resort project, a remarkable feat coming after her previous success of completing her whole year’s project target within just one month. Mrugesh volunteered to partner with her in creating videos for these resorts, opening up a two-way opportunity.
The Irresistible Steps: Inner Work and Video for Ongoing Action
Dr. Mani Pavitra again emphasized that two steps are irresistible to anyone who desires “massive wealth”: inner work and producing videos. She insisted that “massive wealth occurs only by being in presence of the right people” and being “noticed in the right network or the maximum possible number of people.” Her experience as President of a 150-member chapter in BNI Pioneers, building it up from 40 members, testifies to her dedication to leadership and fostering relationships for mutual development. This, along with her emphasis on video as visibility medicine, is the foundation of her exponential abundance strategy.
In summary, the session served to powerfully illustrate that though grand visions are inspiring, it is the relentless, routine action each and every day that actually brings dreams to solid realities. Just as Jiro Ono perfected sushi over a period of decades, and Dr. Mani Pavitra embarks on video mastery, our own path to accomplishment is paved with concentrated, repeated, consistent action.
